About "Gussie"
My Aunt Gussie
My Aunt Gussie was the sweetest person that I ever knew.
Ever.
I never heard her say an harsh word about anybody or anything. She was one of those special people that had such a gentle nature about her that it seemed unworldly - like she truly was from a different place.
We moved in with my aunt Gussie in 1983 (when I was 8 years old). It was getting harder for her to get around. By moving in, mom and Dad could help look after her needs and she would help look after me.
I have so many fond memories of her that I still carry with me to this day. I make her Chex Mix recipe (we call it Trash). At Christmas, I still decorate my house with a paper nativity just like she had. I don't know where hers ended up, so I bought one in 2022 because it reminded me so much of her.
The name "Gussie" was actually the very first name I came up with for an amplifier. I just wanted an amp that sounded so good that it couldn't make a bad sound. I knew that I would have to wait to find the right amp to carry her name.
When the amp plays at low volumes, it breaks up in a pure, comfortable way. When it plays clean, the tone is angelic. It responds well at all levels and it's really hard to get a bad sound out of this amp.
I'm going to be honest with all of you. I can't build an amp that sounds as sweet as my Aunt Gussie.
But this is about as close as we can get.

Is it right for me?
For Blues:
Oh DEAR GOD, YES!
- Breaks up with natural tube distortion, giving you that great classic blues sound!
- Plenty loud enough for your live blues shows and will cut through that mix!
For Country:
ABSOLUTELY!
- Offers that nice break up (just over the edge) that country players dig!
- Plenty loud enough for your live shows and has lots of twang to cut through that mix!
For Jazz:
If you like a little grits with your eggs…
- Probably won't give you enough headroom without breaking up in a louder live Jazz situation. Then again, if you like Southern Jazz, these grits rock!
- You'll never use the dirt channel, but it's there, HOWARD!
- Side note. Southern Jazz isn't a thing just yet, but I'm totally gonna make it a THING!
For Metal:
DEAR GOD NO!
- You need to look at our Missy for that!
- Seriously, go look at the Missy. If you're into classic metal, go look at the Jimmy.
